After the very warm and loving welcome from all of you, here comes my second post……. My award winning theme cake ‘SAVE THE GIRL CHILD’. I have tried to depict a girl child abandoned in trash. The entire Cake is 100% edible. Everything in the trash is made out of fondant and painted with food colors. The main challenge was to finish the cake in flat 2 hours. THE CAKE- Egg less chocolate cake layered with Belgian chocolate ganashe and hints of orange, lemon and ginger, in-between some white chocolate and walnuts playing hide and seek. THIS MESSAGE ACCOMPANIED THE CAKE- Will you take me to your home? I will fill your life with sweetness because I am just that and nothing else. I don’t know why my parents thought otherwise and abandoned me. If you don’t stop beside me for a few minutes and think about saving the girl child in our country, then I will think you are doing the same thing what my parents did. Please don’t abandon me; I am a gift from God. You want mother, sister, wife but not daughter, why? Why am I here in this trash? I have a right to live in a home with a family. I’m ready to get adopted. Will you help me? Will you take me to your home? MY THOUGHT BEHIND THE CAKE- My cakes are an extension of myself, my thoughts. Baking cakes can also be an active way of thinking, which needs to be better valued. I like to challenge preconceptions of what cakes can be. When you bake a cake with all your heart, it becomes a work of art. Taste, technology, science, art, craft, everything comes together and the masterpiece is created. At times message needs to be sent, through shock or disbelief. My purpose is just to get my message across and that should be the purpose of any art form.
