After the violent Murder of Lee Rigby there has been a sharpe rise in Racist attacks such as the burning down of the Islamic Centre in Muswell Hill North London where the letters “EDL” were sprayed on the walls. The Racist English Defence League and other organisations such as the Nazi British National Party have tried to take advantage of this situation to spread their message of racial hate. Furthermore, the mainstream press has been whipping up a climate of Islamophobia. How do we respond to this climate? What do new developments such as the “Strong movement” (which is not a Fascist movement but a nationalistic day of remembrance over the death of Lee Rigby) mean?
