After todays Guadalupe Street Corridor Study meeting, Im a little frustrated that were continuing to see unconventional art-gallery-style meetings instead of actual public hearings. The format of these meetings was a huge cause of public distrust in the planning leading up to Prop 1, and as evident today, they want to continue this meeting format on other projects. Public meetings are about public discussion. Theyre about citizens and public officials all joining together in a group conversation about issues that affect them. They are not about write some things on a wall and well maybe kinda possibly look at them later but only if it supports our pre-determined outcome. What are your thoughts on these meetings? If you prefer them, why? If you arent a fan, what steps should we take to fix them?
