After two days of continuous strike Bandipora and Sumbal, for the third day, again were wearing a deserted look as strike continued for the third day itself in the areas. The situation on the whole remained peaceful. The three militants killed in an encounter in Tral on Monday were laid to rest in their native villages . President, Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) Engineer Rashid on Tuesday, rejected the government probe in the Sumbal killings. Rashid said that the Kashmiri people have become wary of the word ‘probe’ because for Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, the driver who was accompanying the Indian army to Markundal Sumbal on the night of the killing of a 17-year old youth, has been arrested by the police. Manzoor Ahmad sheikh had spoken out to the media about the involvement of Indian army in the killing of Mohammad Irfan in Sumbal Bandipora. An explosive device exploded at the yesterday’s encounter site at Mandoora, Tral, in south Kashmir, while locals were clearing the debris resulting in injuring three persons. Earlier today a noted human rights activist and known lawyer, Parvaiz Imroz was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police, while on his way to court on Tuesday.
