After two years with a temporary bridge, Parks Canada will construct a permanent Fifth Bridge over the Malgine River this year. In preparation for that, work to stabilize and protect the banks of the river will begin on Monday and carry through until mid-April. Parks chose this time to begin the work, as it will likely have the least affect on local fish populations. Construction of the new bridge—which was made necessary after high water levels compromised the integrity of Fifth Bridge in 2012—is scheduled to begin this summer. Pictured is the temporary bridge built in the winter of 2012.
