After using spreadsheets for the past 20 years to gather information to send birthday greetings to people in my organizations, Ive finally automated it at QuickBase. 30 days before a birthday, the system sends a note to the persons boss asking them to add current work-related and personal information to the persons record. Five days before the birthday, the system mails a few pieces of info to me along with what the boss added so Ill have info to use to send the birthday greeting. The system also informs me days before significant anniversaries: 1, 5, 10, 15, 20,...45 years. Believe it, there are people in my organization closing in on 45 years with Seagate! There are more things in the works for this database.
