After watching my cousin on BBC Question Time last night i have finally decided to have my say on the Ched Evans debate. Firstly i would like to say that the crime of rape is abhorrent and disgusting and although i am a man i have a mother, sister, wife and niece and have the upmost respect for women. But after much consideration i think he should be allowed to continue his career. Firstly agree or not the man has served his sentence in the eyes of the law, is a free man, rehabilitated and entitled to find employment. Secondly his profession is not in a position of trust like a doctor or nurse etc where you would be barred from returning to that job after completing a sentence. Thirdly the fact that his job is in the public eye is irrelevant,if he was a singer his next album would not be banned. It would be up to the consumer to decide if they wanted to buy that product (people still buy Chris Brown albums after he beat the shit out of Rhianna). Finally why is it such an outrage to the politicians etc that he comes back as a footballer which is a male dominated atmosphere? Would you rather he worked in a supermarket where many more women are available to rape? Finally i would say that until his appeal is successful or not he is a convicted raped and i wouldnt want him playing for my club but if a team do want to employ him they should be allowed to without there employees being threatened
