After watching this video... I promised myself never to make any political comment on the forthcoming elections in Nigeria. Come the 14th of February, I will either sit at home or go to the polls... not actually to vote, but, to widen my horizon. Its a pity that many Nigerians still believe that Mr. President should continue for another four years. Its a pity that we dont have any other credible candidate to challenge the president for his seat but General Muhammadu Buhari, a seventy-something year old retired general... Its a pity that a man who ruled in his thirties, still want his grand-children to vote for him to rule them again in his seventies. Its a pity that we claim to run a multi-party system of government in Nigeria and we are forced to choose in between two. Its a pity that the elder statesmen in this country dont really understand what position of influence nature has bequeathed on them and they have made mess of it. Its a pity that some days to the elections, the sultan of Sokoto does not even have his PVC... Its a pity that some days to the elections INEC is not even sure which VC we are to use, whether P or T... Its a pity that some youths have been engaged as thugs for men who has lived all their public office days in Abuja... Its a pity that lots of youths who are unemployed will accept the contract of killing their brothers and friends just to make money from the political gladiators.. Its even a greater pity that we are in the 21st century and we still vote not on competence but, on religion, tribe and ethnic. Its a pity that 55 years after independence, 45 after the civil war that nearly tore us apart, we still find it hard to accept ourselves as Nigerians. Its a pity that my kin believes they are more Nigeria than my in-laws living up north and vice-versa. Its a pity that endorsement is the order of the day to the extent people are goaded into going for a candidate which they know has nothing to offer them. Its a pity that this is the 21st century and the governor of Abia state refused to permit APC use the public facility and we all claim not to have noticed. And the presidential candidate had to hold his campaign in a place which the PDP guber candidate can not use, a primay school field. Its a pity that the governor of Rivers didnt permit the state PDP to use the third stadium in the state because it is still under construction, but, offered the other two to them; and we all want to crucify him, we all called him names and the CIC sent in troops to conquer the stadium and await his coming (just like Julius Caesar). Its a pity that we all forgot that there is the Liberation Stadium, which is a national stadium and the other stadium in Port-Harcourt but, we still praise Mr. President for sending in troops to take over a public institution legally under the administration of the state government, damning the provisions of the constitution on separation of powers and our unique system of federalism. Its a pity that in a bid to get Mr. President back on seat, he has to through his bull dogs try to paint his opponent black even to the extent of accusing him of not attending school (but, I have really taken my time to listen to GEJ and GMB speak and I am in no doubt of who we should be asking to provide his certificate). Its a pity this is the 21st Century and we are all afraid of being Islamised by a man. Its a pity that our Presidential hopefuls do not even have visions beyond the 2015 polls and we the electorates have been so blinded as to ask them questions. Its a pity that the Judiciary workers has compromisingly called off their strike because their national leaders have been shook hands with people that matter. Its a pity that even the wife of Asari-Dokubo is threatening the electorates and the DSS, SSS, and Police claimed to be listening. Its a pity that our president will go to a state under his leadership, not in another country, a state in which he has built schools for the Almajiris and he is rained with stones. Its a pity that the Igbos in the north have all been asked to come back to the south by Dokubo. Its a pity that mr. President does not see stealing as corruption.. Its a pity that Mr. President does not believe that corrupt persons should be in jail which is why men who have been convicted even in the foreign countries for corrupt practices are special guests at our seat of power and are vying for one elective post or the other. Its a pity that we dont want GMB to come back because he told us he will throw all corrupt persons into Kirikiri, because we are all corrupt. Its a pity that the governor of Ekiti will put up a sensitive advert as that on the dailies and no one is asking questions.. Its a pity that GMB who could have stood up to ask the boys in the north to stop the nonsense is hoping to ask them that if we vote him into power... Its a pity that we expect the president to win the general elections even when he cowardly refused to allow his partys primaries to be contested... Its a pity that we all know that Mr. Jonathan is not worthy of a second term in office and we are afraid to say or ask him to leave. Its a pity that Gov. Fashola believes an old-man is not fit to be governor of Lagos but sticks his guns for a 72 year old man to shoulder the affairs of a country of about 37 Lagos. Its a pity that after the 2015 elections, we will no longer be able to call our president Azikiwe. Its a pity that in APC, the total votes cast is below the cumulative votes of the whole candidates that contested in the primaries... Its a pity that Fr. Mbaka said the truth and we all said he has received 880 million naira from Ngige and APC. Its a pity that when Fr. Mbaka had sometime November last year spoken favourably of Mr. President we all hailed him as a God-sent. Its a pity that the two parties have perfected plans to rig the elections. Its a pity that in a democratic state, I can not speak out on my views and opinions because I dont know who is who... Its a pity that after the national conference in which billions of tax payers money were spent, we have even forgotten if such ever happened.., Its a pity we have forgotten the resolutions reached there.. Its a pity that we may have to call for another conference... Its a pity that I dont even know who to pity in this country..
