After watching tonights Hot Button Issue programme on CHOICE TV and being drawn into making a contribution, I feel the need to apologise to all firefighters of the Saint Lucia Fire Service. I appreciate those of you who are frank with me and express your honest opinion on matters like these. Tonight when I called the programme, it was for the reason that the department had gone through a Fact Finding Mission which reported the facts confirmed through credible evidence produced by the men and women who put their necks on the line knowing that they would not be favoured by senior management for doing this. Yet they made the sacrifice... I was saddened and at the same time appalled by what I was hearing, my emotions got the best of me and got me drawn into a discussion that may have created the impression that what is going on in the Saint Lucia Fire Service is of a personal nature. You and I know it is not, but it may have caused the Saint Lucian public to get that impression. My apology is for causing that impression. I apologise for getting drawn into that discussion and creating such an impression. I have fought long and hard to ensure that our concerns are brought to light and that we receive the type of recognition and respect that we deserve both from senior management and the relevant authorities. Tonight I allowed my emotions to put a dark cloud over that good fight. I ask that you look beyond what just happened tonight and forgive me for having the good intention of wanting to represent those concerns which sometimes gets mixed with emotions. I apologise...
