After whatever falls on Sunday night through Tuesday morning moves out of here, expect cold in place for New Years Day. Cold air will hold in place towards the end of the week, with a storm system likely tracking into the eastern half of the country for next weekend. Its obviously way too early to get into specifics with what will fall in a week (the models struggle with wave timing 48 hours out as of late) but with the possible retreat of cold air while this storm moves on in, the possibility of rain and/or snow looms for next Saturday. The GFS is modeling some rather cold air across Southern Canada for the first week of January - a chunk of that may slide down in the wake of next weekends storm and reinforce whats in place.
