After working around 50-65 hours every week for the past three weeks (work and freelance work combined), Im glad I had the chance to go on a members only weekend retreat with Mirandas Hearth, a community of artists. We stayed in a cabin in Cape Cod. Inside, we cooked, danced salsa and disco, made our own music, made art, played board games, had an idea-filled business meeting, and cozied up for a movie that only one us stayed awake through. Outside the cabin, we relaxed in a hammock, juggled, played soccer, played trickshot beach basketball with an imaginary hoop (we silly creatives..), visited two beaches within walking distance, stargazed, ate local seafood while sitting on the grass, had baked treats and smoothies at a local and popular place in Woods Hole, and had three different types of good-bye group hugs. I answered zero emails, zero phone calls, and zero text messages. I never had a watch on. I read nothing. I wrote nothing. I slept without an alarm clock for two nights. I napped a few times. (But you all know I couldnt help but photograph a few things. #whatimake) Thank you to Miranda Aisling Hynes for this wonderful and relaxing retreat and for this opportunity for us to grow closer to each other and support each others work. Thank you to Frank Kreimendahl for lending us his family beach house. Thank you to Ben Warren for driving me. And thank you to all the members who attended!!--you made the weekend full of art, ideas, inspiration, calmness, positivity, and gut-wrenching laughter and silliness. If you love art, creativity, and amazing people, ask me to bring you to the next monthly public event!
