After years of trying to be that Mom- the one who makes it look effortless, who makes dinner every night instead of picking up takeout, who volunteers for everything, who sends forms back right away, who remembers to call the absent line, who insists that socks and clothes must match, who always has something homemade available for a snack, the one who keeps up with laundry, doesnt have dirty dishes in the sink, who makes it look easy. I have officially given up. I lose forms, Im regularly pulling into school late in the mornings, unless a laundry fairy comes these clean clothes will end up back in the laundry instead of a drawer, we have eaten Crosbys deli and takeout every night except one in the past week, there are dirty dishes in my sink. I forget half days and picture days, my hair is usually stuffed into a ponytail, and I rarely bother with makeup. But you know what Ive discovered, its ok. Ive spent so much time and effort trying to make it look easy that no one knew it was hard. Until it was too hard to pretend. Last year when Haley was hospitalized our community rallied. Meals, rides, love and it opened my eyes and literally humbled me. I can see what matters. Thank you all. #BuildingAVillage #SavingHaley
