Afternoon Ladies/Gents Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend and Dash Of the Titans, Below is our top tips for the day, Biggest thing is to keep SMILING Have a fab time and Good luck you TITANS you Pre-Race Tips for Your Obstacle Run So youve signed up for your first OCR, trained sufficiently, completed enough stair runs, kettlebell swings, lunges, burpees, squats and pull ups to last a lifetime. Event day is almost here and you arent sure what to expect but want to be as ready as you can be. Here are our pre-race tips to make sure that, come the big day, youre prepared, calm and know what to expect (for the most part). Say Goodbye to Your Clothes Hold a parting ceremony/wake/prayer vigil for the clothes and trainers you will be wearing on race day. Theyll never be the same afterwards. Get There Early Allow for traffic, detours and other holdups. Some events set up offsite parking and a shuttle service to take you to the start—and all of that takes time, (When we did Airfield Anarchy it took 45 mins to register due to the popularity of the event). Be Ready in the Morning Pack all of your belongings the night before. Read the events message boards to find out what tools and advice past event goers might have. Event veterans will probably divulge what worked for them in terms of extra clothes, gloves, gel packs and the like. Hydrate and Eat Well Fuel up and eat the pre-race meal that works for you, at least two to four hours before the event. Obstacle course race-day essentials: Race bib and Pins Youll need your bib number to participate in the race. Dont forget to throw in at least four safety pins for your race-bib. You might want to throw in a few extras just in case you drop a couple or a friend forgot to bring some. Dirty Bag Why pack a dirty bag? Well, your clothes are bound to get absolutely dirty, so if you dont want to throw away your clothes, use the bag as your laundry bag. This way you wont get your gear bag muddy. And when you get home, just toss your laundry in the washer. Change of Clothes A typical description of an obstacle race usually involves rope, hurdles and mud beyond mud. The chance of your clothes getting dirty is close to 100 percent. Do you want to hang out at the after party covered in mud? How about the drive home covered in dirt? Probably not. Bring a change of clothes so you can enjoy the after-party festivities and keep your car clean. Remember to pack: • A T-shirt/Warm kit • Pants or shorts • Spare trainers or sandals • UNDERWARE • Socks • Towel Post race FOOD and Rehydration Drinks BIG SMILE Mark
