Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, Allow me to say a word or two in honor of our new colleagues. Today, our university is glad to receive new faces. New faces that we dont know till now but would wish to know. The same new faces that once belonged to us at some point. The same new faces that, over a short period of time, will no more be, NEW faces. But faces they are now to us, and yes new faces. Allow me to say that newness has been intriguing and fascinating to man since the beginning of time. It is for us an excitement, a surprise and a science, it is cheerful and joyous, and it brings hope and happiness, boldness,positive ness and passion. But men as we all are, newness to us also means risk, unfamiliarity, uncertainty, fear, doubt and disturbance. In the same manner, the old and the established would represent the familiar and comfortable, knowledgeable and the able, mature and trustworthy, rugged but reliable. What I mean to say using all these words is that these new faces that have come, our juniors for the coming academic year, symbolize or show us the same hope and challenge as new players in a team or new twist in a good story. Therefore we, as seniors,should ideally be the matured bunch, a bunch of guys and gals they could trust and depend upon. Together, we can make a terrific team. You, the freshers, a brand new third generation smart phone, and we, your seniors, the standard and reliable nokia phone. So, I, on behalf of all the old faces here, welcome the new faces with open hands, open minds and above all, OPEN HEARTS. Thank You. Chongo Eric 24/08/14
