Again, I feel compelled to point out a common sense fact and must reiterate my stance ... Regarding the myriad of ice-bucket challenges for various charities, I see it like this: How (and why) does it harm and offend **YOU** - the person who is scoffing at, complaining against, and ridiculing others efforts to raise awareness for said charities and causes - if someone elects to pursue such an endeavor? How are **YOU** being personally affected by someone elses decision to raise awareness for ... ohhhh ... The Wounded Warrior Project, A.L.S. Assoc., M.D.A., The American Cancer Society, et. al.? Who are **YOU** to sit in judgment of others attempts - no matter how silly, goofy, and childish - to show some sort of support for charity and worthy causes? Its philanthropy and humanism ... and after all, isnt being charitable, generous, empathetic, and compassionate part of The Great Commission as well as The Golden Rule? I mean, some of you ARE using those as examples, so I do feel compelled to point out the REAL meaning of what the words really mean in day-to-day life. Isnt it a good thing to behold so many people from so many walks of life coming together (even in the face of goofiness and silliness) to raise awareness, to support, and to give back to those in need? For those who are complaining, I truly feel sorry for you in that you are so tightly bound up by whatever it is that prevents you from relaxing, enjoying moments of silliness, and realizing that ... well ... that life is so short. Do as **YOU** see fit. Donate as **YOU** wish. But remember, too: you need to make sure your own house is in order before you dare look to condescend to someone else about the manner in which they keep theirs. Too, no one is holding a loaded pistol at your head, demanding that you participate in any of these challenges and dares. Its a PERSONAL choice. You do as you see fit ... and I will, too. Helping others CAN (and should be) be fun and relaxed. Its not supposed to be all serious, stern, taciturn, and reserved. My best advice is to pull that gigantic rod out of your posterior and lighten up. ;-) Live and let live. Just my thoughts ...
