Again I point out, all this has been known since no later than 1983. James Bamford has been writing about the NSA in highly publicized books. If you wanted to find it there have been very many publications to get you further. The bulk collection programs provide so much unprocessed information that is is impossible to sort through it all without the prioritization of cases. The government gets enough information to fill the Library of Congress every two hours. Even if it is true that the government sees all our emails, it cannot process them without the motivations that come from the priorities of running the government. I would say, the priorities of the bulk collection program probably doesnt provide all the financial data that is needed. It sounds to me as though the government is not being allowed to check on the billions of dollars that foreign workers are sending back to their countries, virtually supporting the economies of many nations. If you think that such moneys ought not to be surveilled you are on the wrong side. Far too much respect is paid to American citizens: for example, out of respect for our rights, the surveillance satellites are turned off as they go over America. That means that because of citizens agitation about their rights, the surveillance satellites cannot be used to prevent things like the tracking of stolen cars or illegal construction. Or the Boston Marathon bombing. We ought to think of our rights as things we parse, instead we are squandering them. We should only stand on them when we need them. I am saying this as someone who does not even have the same rights as the average businessman - I am not allowed to turn down taxi fares without really good reason, yet every other businessman is allowed the right to refuse service to anyone. I, who am denied rights that most people assume (and I do feel violated, dont get me wrong), still think there is too much furor about rights. Edward Snowdens revelations put you up to date to about the year 1983. If, reading Bamford, you couldnt figure out that the surveillance discussed there included financial matters, you are just plain stupid, and have to be spoon-fed information.
