Again: Like i sensationally stated before the World Cup and as we approach the new European football season, it is important i make this suggestions, clarifications and assertions: 1). FIFA has no reason whatsoever choosing its next World Best Player based on the performances at the just concluded World Cup. Having set a precedence in 2010 by awarding Lionel Messi of Barcelona and Argentina, who couldnt find the net nor stage an average performance at the World Cup in South Africa, the award; at the expense of the merited awardees Wesley Sneijder or Diego Forlan. 2). Football has transmogrified just as the world is dynamic. Therefore, the voting system for the World Footballer needs to be reviewed. It is unimaginable that Fifa will restrict voting to some selected Journalists, Coaches and Captains of national teams; many of whom can be bought over with anything. The process needs to be more open for fans worldwide to be able to exercise their franchise for their favourite player(s). These players are followed religiously worldwide, and we shouldnt restrict the voting system to those who may not even like them. It must be all inclusive. 3). Just like it was done last year, FIFA should from time to time, consider the voting deadline if there are issue, coz there will always be issues. 4). You may not like this, but it is a notorious fact. Cristiano Ronaldo obviously nursed an injury to the 2014 World Cup, unlike Messi in 2010. In spite of that, he was able to find the back of the net in Brazil, unlike Messi in 2010. He won everything within his reach last season with Real Madrid, including the long-awaited 10th Uefa Champions League trophy, even scored one of the 4goals scored in the final against Atletico Madrid. And therefore, he is in the pole position to be crowned World Footballer again. 5). Make no mistake, the award somehow excludes the anticipated performances this season. Because it is also a World Cup year. So....FIFA, #DoTheNeedful
