Again... STOP already with this craziness. With these kind of regulations soon there will be NO pets at least not from good home breeders. Please everyone WRITE and stop this. Michigan alert! SB 560 was recently introduced that would regulate Pet shops, large-scale (15+ intact females over 4 months and older) breeders, and shelters. You could have 5 true intact breeding females and 10 female puppies or kittens 4 months of age and be considered a large-scale breeder. This bill regards dogs, cats and ferrets. (I was not aware there was a problem of ferret overpopulation. Ferrets are always altered before they leave the one or two breeders in the country.) Of particular concerns: Pet Shop is defined as any place where animals are offered for sale or transfer...would this be in line with the APHIS definition of Pet Shop or a traditional brick and mortar store? Puppies and kittens must be vaccinated against rabies at 12 weeks!; reducing the holding period for cats at shelters from 4 to 2 days; requiring a vets health certificate for each animal transferred or sold; stringent requirements for any dog or cat entering Michigan from another state; etc. Michiganders please contact your senators to get this ridiculous bill stopped in its tracks! legislature.mi.gov/documents/2013-2014/billintroduced/Senate/pdf/2013-SIB-0560.pdf
