Again, because of this cool Egyptian now playing for University of Louisville, my son (the soccer fanatic) has been absolutely obsessed with basketball. He has joined a team for the first time and his first game in the season where they crushed the opposing team so badly that they turned off the score board and my son scored 8 baskets?? I am not even sure if that is what you call it..I know little about basketball. However, I have suddenly become grateful to Anas Mahmoud, the 7-foot Egyptian that I have just recently gotten to know, otherwise known in the US as the Nile mile, The Giant Egyptian and The Sphinx ...my son is now saying when he sees him, Mom that is me, thats gonna be me... it has both motivated him and connected him to Egypt at the same time...what a strange combo. He was the reason my son wore a t-shirt with the Egyptian flag on it under his basketball uniform for his first game. So thank you Mahoud, for being an Egyptian role model to my little kiddo..we really needed that connection.
