Again few points about hydropower development: I dont think we should just copy & paste so-called Bhutan model. As India is ready for negotiation, it will be total foolishness on our part not to do even negotiation and not to try for for best bargain on power trade to get better deal than that by Bhutan. Nepal is a very rich country, but I used to say that Nepal could be compared with a rich person, who keeps tons of gold in his safe, but wears torn-out shoes and go around in a cycle. We must utilize our gold (resources) to increase per capita income of 27 million population. As power cannot be sold to Japan & America, if we have surplus power there are only 3 countries among 190 countries of the world, where we can sell our power- India, China & Bangladesh. And without help from India, Bangladesh can be ruled out. Secondly, to generate power from rivers, certain international laws about down-stream issues will be good excuse for India to make problem, if we ignore India. Simply put- without mutual cooperation between India & Nepal, just dreaming of big scale hydropower development will again be total nonsense, unless we become satisfied with just few hundreds MW of power, like highly publicized Upper Tamakoshi, and just enjoy having tons of gold in safe and running around with torn-out shoes in a bicycle. Our past 8 years experience proved beyond doubt that just emotion does not give result, it just give votes to parties. Yes, many wise men say that we must dream, but just dreaming and ignoring ground realities and without having step by step plan to achieve that dream, it may just lead to frustration. Our main-stream parties just showed dreams to people in 2063BS, but had no action plan, so after 8 years, Nepal is still wearing torn-out shoes and running around in bicycle, whereas many countries, with less amount of gold (resources) than Nepal, started driving Pajeros and Land Rovers.
