Again, hypocrisy at its finest: nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions are produced almost entirely by DIESEL cars, and NOT by petrol vehicles. The article fails to even mention this unimportant fact. Why ?! Because the governments rate vehicles based solely on their CO2 emissions, and not their NO2 emissions (which, btw is much more dangerous to human health than CO2: NO2 is a CARCINOGEN among other nasty things !! - and were not even discussing DIESEL PARTICLES here, that are among the most potent CANCER causing substances in existence). So basically they rate NO2-spewing DIESELS as green, just because their CO2 emissions is incidentally low. And there you have it: green vehicles leading to the most toxic town on the planet.... but then again.. theyre not even mentioned in the article !! :) Which begs the question again.. WHY ? Well, its simple. Its because all the MONEY and media push that is going into DIESEL cars for a simple fact: DIESEL IS *a lot* CHEAPER TO PRODUCE, but sells above the price of petrol. ;) Fuel companies interests over our health. Perhaps in 10 years, when all this diesel-brainwash will be exposed, when peoples health will seriously decline and mysterious cancer cases will skyrocket, we will finally realize how bad of an idea pushing diesel over petrol has really been. But by then, it will be too late. Emissions research from Kings College London has found nitrogen dioxide concentrations on Oxford Street to be worse than they are anywhere else on Earth, in the history of air pollution. David Carslaw, who led the research, said: To my knowledge this is the highest in the world in terms of both hourly and annual mean. Thats higher than Beijing and Dhaka, higher than anywhere where face masks are the norm and the streets seem to throng with lost medics, and more than 11 times the EU limit.
