Again sorry to be sad but my mummy wrote this when she was in the middle of a huge sad that she is still trying to fight off, mummy writes these thoughts under the name of rambling rose, we hope it helps so many people have commented on the poem THE BOY that mummy wrote and posted saying they never know how to help, we hope this helps you all to begin to at least understand depressed people, purrs cheetah This is very long but I hope it helps I wrote it this evening MORE RAMBLINGS FROM THE DEMENTED RAMBLING ROSE,,,, depression is not a state of unhappiness its a state of hopelessness brought on by the brain inexplicable to anyone who hasnt truly suffered from its full extent nothing will cheer a depressive up cos they are not unhappy or sad but undergoing a deep sense of confusion as to why they exist In full depressive spiral nothing anyone says or tries to do has any impact other people and their relationship to the depressive no longer exist in the depressives mind. They are not selfish or vengeful they are fighting an inner battle with the messages from their brain just as people with hidden illnesses are. In point of fact depression is an illness not a state of mind. Although depressives often regard medicines as a waste of time the medicines calm the brain impulses and give the person strength to formulate a resistance. There is nothing you can do as a friend or a member of their family to change anything the best thing you can do is just be there say hello treat them gently and with love they will not appear to appreciate you but afterwards when they have control they will look back and know you cared, True traumatic depression is triggered by events so mind shattering that the brain stores the experience knowing you never came to terms with it and that you may never know or understand why or what, Your brain is there to help you survive its programmed to survive and so it keeps sending impulses to try to get you to deal with the unresolved sense of not coping like a tennis ball machine The brain will keep throwing balls at you it has no way of knowing they are causing pain it just keeps on throwing them out because its programmed to this The next time you have a depressed person you know dont tell them it will be alright it cant get any worse or to cheer up NONE of this words are applicable. Just be there,
