Age 92, a lifelong resident of Dayton, transitioned from earth in a peaceful sleep to be with our Heavenly Father, Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014. Tootie was the 4th of eight children born to Marcus and Gertrude (Hughes) Berry. She was a Dunbar High School graduate, class of 1942 and a retiree from General Motors. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Jenice “Candy” Dunson; grandson, Philip Tyree Jr.; brother, Dr. Gordon L. Berry of Pasadena, CA; sister-in-law, Juanita Berry; 5 great grandchildren, Jordyn, Morgan, Kayonna, Adreonia, and Robert; special sisters, Grace Alphabet, Thelma Woodfork and Mattie Mathews, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home. Visitation 4 – 8 pm Thursday, Sept. 18, at the House of Wheat. Family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm. Home Going Service will be held 1 pm, Friday, Sept. 19 at Summit Christian Church, 4021 Denlinger Road, Rev. Shelby Walker officiating. Final resting place, West Memory Gardens.
