Agent Anthony Vizzini, assigned to the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team (UDEST), received an award from the U.S. Attorneys Office on May 22, 2014. The award was for Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer for 2013. He was given this award for his key contributions to an ongoing investigation into a cocaine trafficking ring that spanned from Mexico, through South Texas and into Florida. He identified two key players in the Ocala area who were Federally indicted and convicted of trafficking multi-kilos of cocaine over an extended period of time. One received a 10 year sentence and the other a 12 year & 11 month sentence. As a result of this cooperative federal investigation, 57 people were federally indicted; 51 have been convicted so far and over $1,000,000.00 in assets has been seized. We congratulate Agent Vizzini for his outstanding work and for receiving this award recognizing his valuable contributions to the case.
