Agents dont specify what they want. They claim to want fiction, - TopicsExpress

Agents dont specify what they want. They claim to want fiction, but when you write a fiction novel, they complain its not the right fiction. Then theres fantasy and science-fiction and the list goes on. They just arent specific enough and their submission guidelines are incredibly vague--almost impossible to decipher. Reason why I gave up submitting to them back in 2006. I was tired of the frustrations and rejections when dealing with a recalcitrant industry. It would be a hell of a lot easier if they showcased a LIST of books that they would accept so it would make our job as writers a bit easier: Fiction for fiction. Science-fiction for science-fiction, fantasy for fantasy. That way it eliminates a lot of the headaches and needless guesswork. And I wont be wasting time and money trying to query the wrong agent.
