Aggie Golfers Compete at Heartland Conference Championship By Justine Gaskamp Horseshoe Bay, Texas — Five Aggie golfers were invited to compete in the 2014 Heartland Conference Championship tournament held at the Summit Rock Golf Club in Horseshoe Bay, Texas April 21-22. Persistent lightening caused delays in play on Monday afternoon, but the women would get in the scheduled 36 holes and the men finished all three rounds. Abigail Ferguson marked the lowest score for the Aggie women bringing in an 89 in round one and a 106 for round two. Taylor Coffman finished with 96 and 102 while Ashley Ogle shot 106 and 109. The women competed as individuals placing 30th, 31st and 33rd respectively. Cole Cramer and Tyler Harper represented the Aggie men, both competing individually. Cramer tied for 27th shooting 77, 83 and 78; and Harper finished 32nd marking 91, 88 and 90. St. Edwards University took the tournament as both their womens and mens teams came in first place in a field of six teams. SEUs Haley Haught placed first individually for the women shooting two under par for the tournament with a combined score of 142 (70-72). Enrique Livas finished at the top of the leaderboard for the Hilltopper men, also shooting two under par with 214 (72-69-73). The Aggie women have added a dual match scheduled for Friday, April 25 against Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. The men have wrapped up their season and will look forward to competing in fall 2014. Oklahoma Panhandle State University and the womens golf team would like to thank Coach Roger McKinnon for his years of dedicated service to Aggie Golf; McKinnon plans to retire from coaching after this season. Mens coach Dewayne Mauldin will take over as coach for both the mens and womens golf teams in the fall. Best of luck to Roger McKinnon in his future endeavors!
