Aggressively telling a non believer they are sinning, may have the opposite effect of what you want. What do you do instead? Heres my answer. First of all, model Christ like behavior. Its not our job to change them. The Holy Spirit will do that. Love them, serve them, and when they ask questions tell them the truth but, do it with love. Choose your words prayerfully and carefully. Jesus loves us when we are smack dab in the middle of sin. He hates the sin but, He loves us. Should we not do the same? You dont have to approve of or participate in the activities you know are sin. You love the person, not their choices. The word tolerance has been hijacked to mean accepting and encouraging behavior as if you approve of it. No, true tolerance is recognizing the sin, not accepting it or encouraging it but loving the person in spite of it. Again, if they ask what you believe be honest but not hostile. If the person living in sin professes to be a Christian it may be necessary to be blunt but you still dont have to be mean. You speak the truth as the Holy Spirit puts it on your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to work in their life. He really doesnt need our help.
