Aggro Today, we will talk about the Aggro deck type, the most common deck type in MTG. Aggro is a slang term meaning aggravation or aggression. This term is every common among gamers. Like the name, the Aggro deck is extremely aggressive. It refers to attack continuously, pressure its opponents and pull them of the cliff as soon as possible. It goal is achieve victory on the fourth fifth turn. Aggro deck is designed every careful so that the player can draw a land to play every turn, cast as many creature as possible to attack every turn or able to cast a lot of burn spell to damage the enemies. Therefore, the Aggro deck usually has small creatures with low mana cost and high power and ton of burn spells. Due to that risky strategy, the Aggro deck usually runs out of steam after turn six or seven. Red is the best color for this strategy. White, Green and Black follows. Blue can also play Aggro but every rare. Here are some typical Aggro decks in Modern: _Red deck Win: the most famous Aggro deck type in many formats. Using Red as the main theme, this deck type overwhelming opponents with fast, cheap creatures and a lot of burn spell. Running Red deck Win is a serious business. It requires a lot of experiences and calculation to design an efficient combination between the right amount of land and creatures and burn spells so that you can pressure you opponent from the beginning. _Goblin is an example of using small, low cost and aggressive Red creatures to rush down. _Blighting Aggro is a deck type named after the famous Blighting card, full of hatred and chaos. It is the combination between Red and Black. It uses Red as main short of damage and Black to remove obstacles or force the opponent into card disadvantage. _Slight: it is the common term for the Aggro decks using small and low cost creatures with many pumping up card to quickly defeat the opponent. _White Weenie: is the White version of SLigh. This deck using small, low cost White creatures with invasion such as Suntail Hawks, combines with supporting enchantments or artifacts such as Spirit Mental and Umezawa’s Jitte to pump up the power. _Aura Hexproof: this deck type is similar to White Weenie. However, instead of using creature with invasion, this deck uses the creature with Hexproof from Green such as Gladecover Scout or Slippery Bogle, combine with a lot of aura such as Rancor and AEthereal Amor. _Boros: is the cooperation between White and Red, the most aggressive and efficient Aggro deck. It is the perfect combination with extreme cheap, high power Red creatures and supporting abilities from White. It has both speed and damage needed to quickly wipe out the enemies. Lightning Hex is the typical card for this deck type. _Stompy: is a mono Green deck that used the hyper efficient green creature such as Scythe Tiger, Garruk’s Companion and Leatherback Baloth to tear down the early defensive line. It also receives the exuberance mana from Birds of Paradise or Llanowar Elf to quickly bring down more big creatures to enforce the assault. However, this deck quickly meets Green biggest quickness: no removal spells. _Elf deck is another mono Green deck. This is a turn two or turn three victory if you can get a good hand draw., until Glimpse of Nature got banned form Modern. _Gruul Aggor: is where Green meets Red. Green/ Red Aggro work together really well, like a perfect couple. Using the abundant mana source form Green and quick acceleration from Red, this deck quickly bring down gargantuan creatures to break through the defensive line with the supporting form Red’s burn spells. This archetype also comes with land destruction and some combo to quickly pump up creatures. _Affinity is other version of Red deck win, combine with artifacts. It constructed based on the combination of the Modular ability ( cards such as Archbound Ravager) with Affinity (such as Thoughtcast) with Skullclamp and Desciple of the Vault. This deck type also solves the biggest problem of Aggro: out hand. It is so powerful that six artifact land, Skullcamp and Disciple of the Vault got banned in Modern. _Dredge is another type with Green and Black that solve the out hand issue. By putting card for your library into graveyard to return a card from graveyard to your hand, it created a circle between library, graveyard and hand. However, there are too many cards that can break this circle such as Rest in Peace. _Zoo or Naya is a tri-color Red/ Green/ White constructed based on the synergies between three colors. It relies on creatures that allied with land in play such as Kird Ape and Loam Lion, come up with multicolor bad ass such as Woolly Thoctar or Loxodon Smiter. It also comes up a lot of removal spell for different issues. Jund is another tri-color deck with Green/ Red/ Black. This type is also focus on produce big creatures and using burn spells to beat down your opponent at mid game, about turn five or six. This is considered as the most aggressive combination and has highest amount of deck in modern. Good luck with hitting the wall of text.
