Agri deptt records substantial increase in manure distribution--Khajuria Fertilizers stocked in advance for Rabi season JAMMU-OCTOBER-24: The agriculture department has distributed 82159.31 MTs fertilizer among farmers of the State during Kharif 2013 from April to September 2013 recording a substantial increase of 7176.56 MTs distribution during the corresponding period of last year. This was disclosed by Controller of Fertilizers, J&K (Director of Agriculture Jammu) Ajay Khajuria in a meeting held with officers and representatives of supplier companies to review the fertilizer availability in the State. Giving details, the Controller informed that 55184.31 MTs of Urea, 24218 MTs of DAP and 2757 MTs of MOP have been made available to the farmers during Kharief 2013 cropping season. Besides, supply of 1010.50 MTs of urea, 458 MTs of DAP and 48MTs of MOP have also been supplied to Leh and Kargil districts as per demand well in advance. In addition, during the month of October 3943.85 MTs of urea, 8614.40 MTs of DAP and 2527 MTs of MOP has been stocked in the State to ensure timely availability of fertilizers to the farmers during the current Rabi season. Outlining the strategy for the current Rabi season, Khajuria informed that in the recently held Zonal Conference, the Govt of India allocated supply of 78000 MTs of urea, 42750 MTs of DAP, 20000 MTs of MOP and 6470 MTs of SSP to the State which will be supplied to different parts of the State as per the actual demand of the farmers. He said that various supplying agencies have assured that timely supply of required quantity of fertilizers will be made to each nook and corner of the State and will also participate in the awareness programme to popularize use of SSP and NPK to ensure balanced fertilization of crops in the State. The distribution and transportation of fertilizers is being made by the concerned companies to dealers of different districts as per the demand put forth by different institutional agencies like JAKFED, Agros, Central Level Cooperatives and Cooperative Marketing Societies. The companies have also agreed to implement mobile FMS in toto at the earliest.
