Agriculture and allied activities contribute around one sixth of - TopicsExpress

Agriculture and allied activities contribute around one sixth of GDP while more than two third of our population depend upon it to make both ends meet. This itself depicts the skewed economic structure of the country. Agriculture is not lucrative in terms of cash income though it keeps us all alive and kicking. Overcrowding leads to a bevy of ills which further restricts our maneuverability. Manufacturing on a large scale will attract and accommodate the burgeoning masses of youth. So effort must be centred around giving impetus to secondary sector of the economy. Inflation hits more when there is lage scale unemployment. It creates unrest. Obviously if industry grows it helps agriculture by lessening its burden. All this require investment which requires a favourable climate. The crux of governance is to provide this favourable climate. Stablity, consistency, hassle free clearances etc will boost the confidence of investors. Labour reforms have been a long standing issue that needs to be fixed. Land acquisition remains an Achilles heel. All these issues pose serious challenges before the man who is the best in my view to help us squirm out of a cult of hobson choices. Can mr. Jaitley deliver. I hope he could have answered in obama ways YES WE CAN....
