Ah, Mozart, Mozart. Who cannot wax lyrical about him? Oh, not - TopicsExpress

Ah, Mozart, Mozart. Who cannot wax lyrical about him? Oh, not HIM? Who, then? Why, his father, of course. Quite unlike the demonic character of the film, the real Leopold Mozart was successful, if not triumphantly so, in his own right. Sandwiched between Hadyn (a little older) and Handel (a little younger), Leopold was accomplished and effective as a teacher, especially of the violin. He did compose, and history has not been kind to him. Critics routinely find him pedestrian. But compare him to H and H, and you know...his stuff aint bad. With a bit of a tremble in the knees, I would beg to differ with the critics, and offer todays Truth in Music in evidence. As for the son excelling the father, breathes there the man who does not wish fervently that this may be so? I know I do, for both son and daughter!
