Ah, Summer. Due to personal circumstances it has been a reading - TopicsExpress

Ah, Summer. Due to personal circumstances it has been a reading summer. Absolutely nothing wrong with that kind of summer. It would have been far better if I could have curled my feet in the sands of a beautiful beach with a good book, but it has been waiting rooms; human and veterinary. When I read, read means at least six books at the same time. A remnant from the law school days when we were required to read 150 pages per subject per course day. It creates a hyperactive mind. A mind that isnt satisfied unless its chewing on a small library of half eaten books. I have finished Diana Gabaldons Outlander and am looking forward to the books series on Showtime next month. About the book, I will say this: She beats the Hell out of her characters. Finishing the book, I was exhausted; I felt as if I needed a little light reading to clean my mental palate for the next bout/book in the series. I just closed the cover on Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. If youve read the soon to be a movie book you will understand exactly what I am about to say: I loved the ending; it wasnt what I expected. I hated the ending; it wasnt what I expected. Its back to the books for me. Mr. M having surgery tomorrow will give me several hours of waiting room reading. Then he will be home for a week and Ive loaded his iPad with great books to keep him entertained. We are not fans of daytime TV. I also downloaded a couple of Audible books for Monkey, Bullet and Mr. Hunter that will play while Im out of the house; even though I know they all prefer the Hunting Channel on TV. Just trying to knead their little pea brains. Im now doing the trial period of Kindle Unlimited, just finished the trial period for Scribd, next up Oyster. Then I will decide which Netflix for Books service to keep. So, hows your summer reading coming along? The great or the awful, the good or the in-between. Please dish; wed all love to know.
