Ah, love organizational communication fails. Ive been anxiously awaiting whether or not I would be able to get my Command Qualification Board knocked out in time to be eligible for my last chance at command screening next month. Last I knew the request was at our strike group waiting. Our Reactor Officer has sat on some of these boards before and said to get on his schedule for a what to expect talk. After a few reschedules due to things popping up, we finally met up today. Heres the gist of the conversation: Him: Are you ready for your board? Me: Well, having not done one before and not done any boards since my TAO board in 2007, not sure what to expect, but I have some time because it isnt even on the schedule yet. Him: ..... (he hops on computer.....) Oh, I guess you werent on the email chain. Me: What email chain? Him: Well, the good news is your board is Wednesday.... Me: Gee, really glad we had this meeting then, would have sucked to miss my own board because no one mentioned it to me.... Him: ..... So here I am drinking heavily contemplating what my command philosophy will be. Glad I had at least 1.5 days of notice... of course, I am also CDO that day, what could possibly go wrong....
