Ah yes, the ubiquitous New Years Eve tagging post! I always think back upon the friends and experiences Ive had on this night, many spent at home watching the ball drop as a kid with my mom and sisters Jennifer Wheeler Brooks and Gail Wheeler, and many with friends at their place, or in the desert..! I literally froze to the ground one year visiting my old group in Santa Fe after catching the worm in some mescal. I woke up with a cold and my shirt not wanting to be liberated from the frozen mud I had been laying in... I havent kept up with any of my Northern friends from elementary school, hmmmm... Ive gone out to Doyle Smith and Lennies party a couple of times and hung out with Alex Wheeler, Bob Diven, David Edwards and MeganBob Butler among others, and froze my butt off, but enjoyed the burning of any number of effigies that might be the annual victim. I really enjoyed bringing in the new millennium with The Last Men on Earth (Eric Hisaw Chris Holly Rae Bemis-Schurtz, and David Chavez) at The Club back in 99. Ive played in groups for many of them - Some in NM, some in TX, with friends including Rich Estes, Colin McDowell, Scott Guthrie, Will Sadler, George Oliver Charity IV, Michael N Bernadette Crespin, Ken Andree, Japhy Ryder, and Rick Eakens some in Las Vegas, Reno, Elko, Los Angeles, thanks to my buddy David Ogata, its been quite a ride. Tonight my daughter Kendra is out celebrating with friends, and my wife Tricia is already asleep... As for me, Ill be sitting by the fire, watching my son sleep through the midnight hour as I wonder what he will be doing on this night in years to come... I hope he has as many adventures, and as many friends to celebrate with as I have had... Hope everyone has a fantastic, successful, and fulfilling 2015-- Its good to know you..
