Ahead of the nationwide debates scheduled for today Nov.29, 2014 in Voinjama City organized by the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) for candidates contesting the upcoming senatorial election, candidates have begun arriving in Voinjama. Since the start of the special senatorial election campaign nine (9) days ago, Lofa had being very quiet with almost all of the candidates contesting in the senatorial election being in Monrovia with exception Hon.Stephen H.J. Zargo who remains in Voinjama but his party offices remain closed as supporters of Prof. Kromah swallow up his office because of the closeness of both offices. But today, all that changed with the arrival of one of the formidable candidates in the race Prof. Alhija G.V. Kromah. His arrival begins the official start of political campaign and clustering of supporters in Lofa. Lofa County has 9 candidates contesting one senatorial seat with over 164,000 registered voters. Most People in Lofa largely vote on tribal, religion, and sometimes districts solidarities. When I met Prof. Kromah upon his arrival in Voinjama, I asked him about his impression of the crowds that welcome him. He said, he was speechless and appreciative. However, welcoming program for Prof. Kromah was had at the Voinjama Public school field in Voinjama city where many journalists later abandoned the program due to the bottleneck instituted by his supporters. Meanwhile, A 13 year old rape victim has died in Voinjama Lofa County after all efforts by health workers to save the girl’s life failed. According to Lofa County attorney Luther J. sumo, the rape incident occurred in the Selega road community in Voinjama some two weeks ago after a 65 year old man identify as Amara Tallawalay repeatedly raped the victim while serving as her care taker. .13 years old victim Mayamu Sesay died at about 5:20 pm on November 27th at the Tellewayon Memorial hospital in Voinjama City Lofa County.
