Ahhhhhhhhhh............ A day at home in the middle of this years Glumcamp (a.k.a. the NVC Summer Camp). So far theyve had some interesting learning experiences. Their own know-it-all technical expert has discovered exactly what happens if you plug a 2kw tea urn into a 40ft extension cable with only the first couple of feet unwound (and just how much molten plastic hurts). Theyve discovered that marquees get dark inside at night if you forget to put lights in them, and just how cross Dave gets if you try and join up 900ft of random cables across a wet field to try and get a bulb in there. Theyve discovered that The Rubbish Fairy doesnt exist, and you have to take it to the tip, as half a skipfull wont fit into a standard wheelie bin, especially if its already full or stuff from the house, that a nylon sleeping bag left 3 inches from an industrial space heater is liable to vanish as if by magic, that fresh garlic really doesnt last very well for a year in a damp shed, and seven of them have found that, if youre going camping, its best to take stuff with you, as the phrase Have you got any spare tents and sleeping bags? is liable to be greeted with fits of the giggles.......... Some good moments though, like watching someone who has never towed anything before trying to reverse a trailer full of rubbish through a narrow gateway and round a sharp corner, slightly uphill and in heavy mud. :~) Bless...........
