Aides said Mr. Obama was surprised to learn after leaks by Edward J. Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor, just how far the surveillance had gone. Things seem to have grown at the N.S.A., Mr. Plouffe said, citing specifically the tapping of foreign leaders’ telephones. I think it was disturbing to most people, and I think he found it disturbing.” Now Im speaking as myself. If I were President Obama and my agencies were dishonoring my orders, damaging my integrity and credibility on the world stage, and violating my constituents constitutional rights, I would be incensed and lose faith in those who carried out the actions. Terminating the leaders who ordered this would be a given, but I would also look into having the Justice Department look into what amount of legal action is appropriate. The Administration says that the President was disturbed by the NSAs actions, therefore the President should take proper action against those who carried out these disturbing abuses of power. If President Obama will make a Constitutional stand similar to how Senator Obama did just 6 or 7 years ago, he would go a long way in garnering credibility and support from civil libertarian Republicans and Democrats.
