Chantilly, VA - January 26, 2015 - Aimpoint, the originator and worldwide leader in electronic red dot sighting technology, marks the companys 40th anniversary this year. Founded in 1975 by Gunnar Sandberg, the companys non-magnified products provide superior levels of speed, accuracy, and rugged design to hunters, law enforcement, and military organizations worldwide. The Aimpoint Electronic was the companys product introduced in 1975. Hunters immediately understood the advantages of this new technology, and it quickly gained acceptance by competitive shooters as well. Other key product developments soon followed, including the Aimpoint Mark III, and Aimpoint 3000 during the 1980s, and the now famous Comp Series of sights during the 1990s. The 2000s saw the development of Aimpoints Advanced Circuit Efficiency Technology (ACET), which provides Aimpoint sights with battery life measured in years, and introduction of important new products including the CompM4, Patrol Rifle Optic, Carbine Optic, and Micro series of sights. The U.S. Army was the first military force to recognize the advantages of Aimpoints parallax-free, red dot technology. In 1997, the Army awarded Aimpoint its first contract for the supply of electronic sights. Since that first contract, Aimpoint has delivered over one million sights to the US Military, and is the only supplier type-classified to provide the M68CCO to the US Army and Air Force.
