Air Defense Regimental CSM Visits EUCOM Story by Spc. Wendy Veal KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany—Command Sergeant Major Jerome Wiggins, Command Sgt. Maj. of the Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, visited the Soldiers of 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command on recently, where he delivered the State of Regiment Brief. “There are only two branches in the Army that are growing, Cyber Command and Air Defense Artillery,” said CSM Wiggins. “That pretty special, you’re in an MOS that has an opportunity for you to have upper mobility, for you to maximize your potential for promotion and still have an opportunity to do broadening assignments.” During the Brief he highlighted many topics, one of which was promotion. He covered information that was aimed at guiding Soldiers from all the ranks to achieve the highest standards and make the most out of their careers. “Seventy-five percent of your promotion criteria is in your NCOER,” CSM Wiggins said. “Not everyone is a one over one type of NCO, when you do that you continue to degrade the system and what you do is you allow a guy like me to have to make that decision about your NCOER.” He also covered personnel strengths within the Air Defense Regiment, and future plans he wishes to accomplish before the current 10th AAMDC Command Sgt. Maj. Harold Lincoln takes over as the new Regimental Command Sergeant Major. “It is my intent before CSM Lincoln gets in and gets the ball rolling, I will tell you what I’m about to do, I’m about to take 14G (Air Defense Battle Management System Operator) and 14H (Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning System Operator) and merge them back into 14J (Air Defense C41 Tactical Operations Center Enhanced Operator Maintainer),” said CSM Wiggins. CSM Wiggins intent by merging the two is to increase assignment opportunities for everyone within these MOSs. He concluded his brief by covering the new Soldiers Record Brief, which has been developed to cover both officers and enlisted allowing it to be an integrated personnel record.
