Airdrie v JBM03 Tough one yesterday for the boys against a strong team. JBM were under strength due to the fact that our Goalie Max pulled out on the morning of the game due to illness and nathan ourt with calf strain. Jamie McQ came in (although off school with illness) and Euan playing with an injury. Jamie McT turned up to help us out. Wee Jamie Mct played in goal and must have created a record as the smallest keeper ever seen in an 03 match. The match started with Airdrie on the front foot pressing all over the park. JBM could not get out with Jordyn and James putting in multiple tackles. Eventually the pressure paid off with Airdrie getting a couple of really good goals. They had a big lad about 6 foot at the back who was shooting from virtually the halfway line- he took the ball done and drove it in the top corner. Wee Jamie in goals flew through the air to try and save it with everyone holding their breath hoping he wouldnt get to it. If he had got in the way of it he would have ended up on the moon. What a strike. Another long range effort then went in the top corner. We had a handful of decent attacks in the first but never got through. The boys heads however did not go down. Half time Airdrie 4 JBM 0 Second half Jordyn in goals and Jamie Mct out. The boys then took control of the match with the football and interplay superb from Jamie McT, Kai, Euan and Jamie McQ going forward. James and cameron at the back letting nothing through. Jamie McT then scored a terrific goal. We then created another 3 or 4 chances which we did not convert. Cameron came off with groin injury with 10 mins to play and aiden slotted in at back. James then came off with an injury late in the game. We then lost an unlucky one from corner at the end. Airdrie 5 JBM1 Jamie McT - What a player - not so sure about the goalkeeping though. James - What a performance from the big guy Jordyn - Excellent performance and done well in goals Cameron - Solid performance especially at back in second half. Euan - Worked his socks off for the team Kai - Second half especially - fantastic Jaimie McQ - Done well from his sick bed Aiden - Worked hard for the team and put in a great shift. The boys gave 100% till the end and the heads never went down against probably the best team we will play in the league. We had multiple players out, injuries galore and unusual positional changes. A Dundee United scout was at the game and he said we were superb in the second half - especially the passing game we played. He asked where we usually play and if he could come and watch us again, as enjoyed the way we play. So boys keep working hard and we will reap the benefits.
