Ajay Agrawal is an old school friend. He was a MENSA genius . He wrote articles in high school for The Statesman on Gregorian chants to obscure books ! He maybe dropped out of 2 colleges , Hindu and an Engineering one before doing Comparative Literature in Brown , though he first love was being an IAF fighter-pilot ! Later he went ahead and did law at the Ox-Cam set-up . He earlier had founded United Lex which became one of the largest Legal Process Outsourcing companies , which he exited . After that he wanted to follow great living classical music masters and film them for posterity . But now he was hooked to his serial passions ;-) He started Sirion Labs in 2012 along with a global outsourcing professional from South Africa, Claude Marais, who was Director, IT Procurement Coca Cola and in this capacity responsible for the global IT sourcing for the Coca-Cola Company and sourcing co-ordination of its bottlers globally and then Director, Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management for HP. And all this out of Gurgaon. He is one of those ones who came back from the NY-London haunts in the early 2000s . I have met amazing techpreneurs who are first-generation with him. Global quality professionals are making great teams with shared equity right here . And creating cutting-edge products and services . The idea is to get vendors to keep as close to the agreements and contracts of supply and quantify the performance on delivery of any service with the right fines for leakages and non-performance . It is like a continuous evaluation of what you promised in the field of complex contracts . Imagine if the public did this to its Governments on their manifestos ! Leading IT suppliers, including Indian players who deliver about $200 billion of services annually to global customers, face similar problems on the delivery side with the gap between what was supposed to happen and what they actually deliver driving a revenue leakage ranging from 3-7 per cent as a combination of service level penalties, under-invoicing and early terminations. The company’s flagship product – Sirion - offers functionality for managing the entire strategic supplier management lifecycle – contract, performance, finance, risk, relationship and consumption management and thereby minimize spend and revenue leakage. Strategic supplier spend, in excess of $1 trillion annually, experiences an estimated hard value leakage of $80-120 billion on the buy side. Traditional procurement and service delivery products cannot be improved to address this problem because they are simply not geared to bring all the key disciplines of post-signature supplier management into a single platform. Further, they lack the ability to bring the enterprise focus down to the obligation level where the real value leakage takes place.
