Ajimobi has re-defined governance in Oyo – Femi Emmanuel The General Overseer of the Living Spring Chapel International, Pastor Femi Emmanuel has commended the urban renewal programme of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi administration, saying it has led to the complete transformation of the city of Ibadan and the entire state. Pastor Emmanuel, who gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Governor’s Office, Ibadan at the week-end, said Governor Ajimobi had re-defined governance in the state with his brilliant showing in the last two and a half years. While saluting the courage of the governor in taking certain steps in the process of transforming the state, the cleric said that the re-definition of governance by Governor Ajimobi had manifested through his numerous achievements which he said were glaring to the people of the state. ``The reasons why we are here today are to salute your courage, to thank God for your life and to appreciate the good work that God is using you to do in this state. ``All of us can see that in the last two years and few months, you have made it clear that one man can make a difference, and you are making the difference. I don’t flatter people. I know what it means to be in government. I follow you closely and I see the kind of change going on. ``Each time I climb the Mokola Bridge, I say Oyo State is working; Senator Ajimobi is working. Each time I drive past the Restoration Bridge at Bodija, I say Oyo State is working, Senator Ajimobi is working. Each time I see the Ajumose Shuttle Buses and the Keke Ajumose and all that is going on in the education sector, agricultural sector and other sectors, I always thank God for somebody like you that came up at this time to re-define governance in this state. Continuing, Pastor Emmanuel said ``this is the kind of opportunity that we had lost in the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Chief Awolowo, a visionary leader, came on bound and set the pace. You are setting the pace again in Oyo State. ``Many of the governors who had come before you, it was eat your own and leave; chop I chop, but I can see the energy, the passion, the vision and the commitment. And I say so Ibadan and other cities in Oyo State can be made beautiful; I say so things can work again. You have made us realize that things can work and it is working. We thank God for you for being a role model and that is why I can say very convincingly that you deserve a second term. ``You don’t sack a winning team. This is a winning team; this is a working team and we have continued to pray for you. We will also work to make sure this good work continues. Anyone else who wants to be governor, let him wait; eight years will soon be over; this good works need to be well established and well grounded so that whoever comes can build on it; it will too solid to be demolished’’. He called on the people of the state to continue to support the Ajimobi administration to ensure the delivery of more dividends of democracy. In his response, Governor Ajimobi expressed gratitude to the clergy man for appreciating his administration’s efforts at transforming the state, stressing that prayers from men of God across the state had contributed immensely to the success of his government. He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to discouraging street trading and making the environment friendly for the benefit of the people of the state.
