Ajimobi okays purchase of graders for road repairs With the rainy season coming to an end, the current administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo State is to embark on massive rehabilitation of all the hinterland roads across the state. A major step in this direction, code- named ‘Operation Fill Potholes’ was the approval for the procurement of 66 graders for the rehabilitation of damaged roads in all the 33 local government areas of the state. This was disclosed by the Governor shortly after being conferred with the award of exemplary leadership by the state chapter of the National Council of Women’s Society (NCWS) at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, where he was also publicly endorsed for the 2015 governorship election. The Governor, at the occasion, charged women in the state to redouble their efforts in championing the cause of the enthronement of good governance, with a view to preventing potential non-performing leaders from getting opportunity to steer the ship of the state. Ajimobi assured that his administration would not relent in its efforts at making life worth living for the people, including women, stressing that no government in the sate had protected the interest of women more than his administration. In her remarks, President of the society, Victoria Adetona, commended the Ajimobi-led administration for its gender-sensitive policy which she said had impacted positively on the lives of women as they had been given the opportunity to contribute immensely to the development of the state. She said the present administration in the state had the highest number of women in its cabinet, adding that the government had assisted women traders with interest-free loans to boost their trading activities more than any administration in the history of the state. In her contribution, state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Atinuke Osunkoya, solicited the continued support of women for the Ajimobi administration in the efforts to take the state to greater height.
