Akejus Leave of No Return Osun gov: Segun Agbaje takes over as REC today Former Resident Electoral Commission (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi State, Mr Segun Agbaje, will take over today as the REC in Osun State, ahead of the August 9, 2014 governorship election in the state, the Nigerian Tribune authoritatively gathered. Credible sources informed the Nigerian Tribune that the former embattled REC in the state, Ambassador Oluwatoyin Akeju, had already put finishing touches to his handing over note, which would be presented to his successor today. Nigerian Tribune had exclusively reported that Akeju had been replaced by the authorities of INEC in Abuja. At the INEC office in Osogbo on Monday, the majority of the workers were seen discussing the exit of Akeju. When contacted, the Chief Public Affairs officer of INEC in Osun, Mrs Nike Tadese, in a text message, stated that “Mr Segun Agbaje is yet to resume.” But a top official of INEC in Osogbo, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed to the Nigerian Tribune that “the new man is already on his way to Osogbo and all the staff are waiting for him.”
