Akhenaten was one of the most interesting pharaohs. He was a monotheist (or at least a henoteist) and he was a very original reformer of art and life in Ancient Egypt. One of the few things we have left of his reign is a beautiful poem he wrote to worship Aten, the one God he believed in. That poem inspired me to compose this symphonic piece of music. To recreate an ancient egyptian sound, I also used Middle East instruments, like the oud, the duduk, and the santoor.
