Akron, OH-An Akron man with a history of domestic violence is under investigation for his wife’s death after police say he abducted her at gunpoint and beat her before crashing their car. Kyndall Tucker, 26, died Sunday morning at Akron General Medical Center. An autopsy is pending at the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her husband, Robert Howard Tucker III, 28, is jailed on charges of kidnapping, aggravated burglary, domestic violence and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Court records show at least five previous domestic violence arrests for Robert Tucker. An attorney for him could not be reached for comment Monday. According to police, Tucker went to his wife’s relative’s house on Second Street Southwest in the city’s Kenmore neighborhood on Saturday and abducted her at gunpoint. Police say he punched her several times in the face and tried to get her inside the trunk of his 2013 Ford Taurus. She eventually sat in the front seat and the two drove off. A short time later, the car crashed into a tree in the 1600 block of Manchester Road. Tucker again beat his wife in the head before fleeing on foot, police said. Kyndall Tucker was critically injured and trapped in the car. As police and paramedics arrived, Robert Tucker was among the bystanders at the scene. He was arrested and taken to the county jail. Police are trying to determine if Kyndall Tucker died from injuries sustained in the crash or whether she was assaulted prior to the crash, police Lt. Rick Edwards said. Court records show this is Robert Tucker’s sixth domestic violence arrest in Summit County. He has been convicted of domestic violence five times, according to a previous criminal indictment and court docket. He was released from prison in October after serving a three-year prison term for three combined cases involving domestic violence and cocaine possession. The prison stint was interrupted once when he was granted early release in 2009. He violated the terms of probation and was returned to prison, court records show. Kyndall Tucker filed for divorce May 28, saying in a self-filed case that her husband was cheating on her.
