Akron at one time had 6 railroads serving it. The Baltimore and Ohio The Erie Lackawanna The Pennsylvania The Akron Canton and Youngstown The Akron Barberton Belt line. The Valley Railroad There were 4 passenger stations and 5 Freight stations. I railway express station still standing at Quaker Square. 1 Interurban line, The Ohio Light and Traction Co. The station was in the former Ohio Edison Bldg. It became Greyhound eventually. Remnants may still be there. The huge train shed became the concourse For Greyhound buses after track removal. Grey hound moved to new building on Broadway. The B&O/CSX station at Howard St. is still used, I think, for the tourist railroad that runs thru Peninsula. That rail line out to Peninsula on to Cleveland and goes South to Canton is the old Valley Railroad. Now CSX was B&O. The Valley Railroad had a station at Market just West of Howard St.
