(Nuwar Faqie, BasNews, Khanaqen) Iranian Forces Fight Alongside Peshmerga In Jalawla - The Iranian Quds force has entered Khanaqen, a Kurdish city in Diyala Province in Northern Iraq, to fight Islamic State (IS) militants in the town of Jalawla. - A Peshmerga source in Khanaqen told BasNews Iranian forces entered Iraqi soil from the Parwezkhan border gate and they came in response to a request from Patriotic Union of Kurdistan officials to support Peshmerga in the affected areas. Heres more: (Via War is Boring) On August 21, Kurdish social media activists published pictures that appear to depict elements of the Iranian 81st Armored Division entering southern Kurdistan via Khaneghein, north of Jalawla. - Now, supposedly the 181st Armored Brigade of the 81st is involved, being previously deployed in the area of the Sar-e-Pole Zahab border town near Khaneghein. These folks are well trained and disciplined, and have US made M-60 tanks and Cobra helicopters that will help the Kurds a lot. Old Iranian tanks and gunships are better than the None that the Peshmerga have. Iranian UAVs (Ababil drones most likely) are also reportedly in use, and with US acquiescence and airspace coordination. .. The enemy of my enemy is my friend ..
