Alameda County Public works just helped me fix the non-functioning - TopicsExpress

Alameda County Public works just helped me fix the non-functioning walk signal at Lewelling and Mission! So- over the last 3 weeks, I have tested out the App called MOBILE CITIZEN on my smart phone. (Dont worry- if you dont have a smart phone, Ive included methods to contact PUBLIC WORKS below also....) I think they know my name by now.... lol. I probably submitted 20 requests for things need fixin around Alameda County Unincorporated- which includes San Lorenzo, Ashland, Castro Valley and Cherryland (for your purposes). If you see a pot hole, a non- Luckys shopping cart (because Luckys picks up their own) or a non-functioning street light, or trash/debris dumped somewhere, or a broken sidewalk.... these are the people you contact. Yes- even high weeds or graffiti on a Commercial Property! So- this is how it works- you download the free app, its best to have them save your email info so that you dont have to stand there on the road and enter it each time. It allows you to take a photo, which has GPS coordinates already there! (but extra info in the comments is sometimes helpful because addresses are not always correct). You select what the problem is (weeds- you would select trees). They send you an email confirmation once you submit the problem. THEN.... they constantly updated you on the resolution! If the problem is a private landowners, they will tell you that they will submit it to CODE ENFORCEMENT. And they contact the private landowner. If the problem is CalTrans- they submit the request on your behalf, and you still get updates. If the problem is their responsibility, they normally fix it within a couple of days. [Here is a sampling of the other things they fixed, while you were going about your day: picked up about 10 shopping carts, had EBMUD fix a broken tile near the fire station, fixed a sign that got hit by a car by the fire station, cut weeds over a stop sign in a residential area at the end of Grant- thanks to CHP OFFICER ERIC MORALES FOR THE HEADS UP, had Cal Trans fix the above mentioned street walk signal, had the property owner at Leweling and E14th cut the bushes near the freeway on-ramp for safety, they had Scott Bohannon clear out 3 couches and a mattress from behind the temp library, cleared a mattress from behind the Wendys and some really icky garbage, cleared a mattress from behind the donut shop near the Chevron...... and much more.... ALL IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS!!!] And that is just the stuff I know about! Anyone can use it.... yes even law enforcement....
