Alan’s Denmark blog #4 Nov 2 (cont.): And so…to Vejen and we appear tove lost the hotel……it takes a good while to find someone to ask directions from as Saturday is half day closing and the only people about are staggering back from a lunchtime drinking sessions…it doesnt make for mutual comprehension…..feels like cowtown, Denmark. When we eventually find it, its a real Bates Motel complete with eccentric proprietor/ cook/ bottle washer who takes an age to show us to our rooms. Its ok tho. We unpack and after everyones had a faff, we set off for the gig in Føvling. Its the MultiHall……do you think we can find it?……..actually, we do….eventually……..after driving right thro town and asking at a farmhouse (complete with berserkly barking dog). The Multi Hall is a great barn of a place so were relieved when it begins to fill…..ticket price is…..a lot……fills up tho. It also boasts a nice slap echo off the back wall…..couldve posed a problem but it didnt. Some Germans have travelled 700k to see us….after the show they join us in the dressing room for a drink and John takes the opportunity to suss possible walks in Germany….(Reluctant Ramblers: have your passports ready)….all together …I love to go a wandering, along the mountain top…. or is it shades of Uh-oh. By now JJ is in full dressing room host mode and theres lots of wine left……..definitely Uh-oh! Now did I pack a sleeping bag…..Just as I begin to have an interesting conversation with Tim about audio magnetics and the perils of patent law, however, its decided that we must leave…….we find the hotel without difficulty this time and I rinse out my smalls before turning in…. Nov 3: Today, Im first up for breakfast…menu simple but good…..bread, cheese, honey, coffee and orange juice…there were muesli and cereals…but I couldnt face all that chewing this morning…I leave just as Ian is coming to eat. The day is set fair with some sunshine and a gentle breeze. Then the usual…play some guitar….mooch a little…….pack my bag….we leave on the dot of 12.00. Talk in the van returns to drum seats and sensors using leds, possible ways to play Everything Must Go acoustically….a fair amount of snoozing goes on too…..we stop for a coffee about an hour out from Brøndby and still get to the gig very early. There appears to be some sort of housewives’ convention going on, so we cant set up straight away. Henning, our promoter, provides some snacks and everyone retires to webdom for a while……more later…..A x
